BMW Officially Announces the 128i Convertible

We have final confirmation that BMW will release the 128i convertible in the Spring of 2008.  They will follow-up in the Fall with the 2008 BMW 135i Convertible.

BMW 1 Series Convertible Video

On July 28, 2007 we watched the first "quality" video of what us reported to be a prototype of a 2009 BMW 1 Series convertible on the test tracks in Germany. Edmunds automotive website featured a story written by Senior Editor Ed  Hellwig which claims that the video shows a 2009 1 Series convertible on the test track.  According to the story, the convertible will have a manual top keep the costs down compared to the automatic lid on the 2007 3 series convertible.

Well noted in most articles written on the BMW 1 Series, smaller BMW cars have not been very successful in the past however the 135i convertible with 300 HP at an attractive price point may resonate with US consumers.
